Kawai's Exclusive Carbon Jack
The Exclusive Carbon Jack
The jack is the pivotal link between the key and the hammer. It controls the power and repetition of each and every keystroke. To fulfill this critical role, Kawai developed the "Carbon Jack" made of carbon and polyacetal. The Carbon Jack is molded as a single piece using Kawai's "Tapered Core" design for minimum weight, maximum directional strength and optimum responsiveness. It is virtually indestructible, will not warp due to humidity, and requires no lubrication – all of which reduces the need for maintenance. The microscopic surface texture where the jack meets the hammer dramatically increases control during pianissimo passages. For these reasons, the patented Carbon Jack is advanced far beyond the conventional glue-jointed wooden jacks found on
most other pianos.
Kawai's Exclusive NEOTEX Key Surfaces
NEOTEX™ Key Surfaces
Our exclusive NEOTEX key surface material made of cellulose fiber offers the smooth, understated texture of natural ivory and ebony – and a semi-porous, silica-filled surface to absorb the hand's natural oils and perspiration. Since NEOTEX is used for both the sharps and naturals, the feel of the keys is consistent across the entire keyboard. NEOTEX resists cracking and fading over years of use and is static-resistant to help prevent the build-up of unwanted dust. The result is a beautiful, long-lasting key surface with exceptional playability.
GX BLAK Series Extended Length Spruce Keys
Extended Length Spruce Keys
The overall length of each key has been extended to make playing easier and provide more even response from the front to the back of the playing surface. In addition, the keysticks are designed with a slightly taller profile for maximum rigidity to deliver greater power. Spruce is the ideal key material – light, yet extremely strong for its weight. It responds with minimal flex and exceptional consistency, transmitting every subtle nuance of the pianistís performance while remaining stable through
years of heavy use.

Concert Length Key Buttons

Concert Length Key Buttons
The use of hardwood maple key buttons adds stiffness to the keysticks for improved energy transfer. Key buttons on the GX Series instruments have been doubled in length to provide maximum energy transfer and optimum power.
