KAWAI AND BERKLEE TEAM UP
On the Berklee in LA program

Rancho Dominguez, CA • September, 2010 – Dozens of talented high school musicians from across the world made their way to the Los Angeles area in August to participate in the annual Berklee in LA program. This year, 72 young musicians from the U.S., Canada, and at least five other countries, spent one week listening to and performing with professors from world-renowned Berklee College of Music.

Kawai is the official digital piano for the Berklee in LA program. This year, six Kawai EP3 portable digital pianos were provided to the program. “The EP3 offers a great piano sound and feel in a portable package with built-in speakers”, says Tom Love of Kawai America. “It’s perfect for an application such as Berklee in LA, and we’re pleased to put this instrument into the hands of some great up-and-coming musicians and Berklee faculty”.

Berklee LA Program

The Berklee in LA program attracts some of the top young musicians around, offering guidance in songwriting, performance, production and music business. At the end of the program student performed their songs in a concert for parents, peers and friends. Students also had the opportunity to audition for scholarships for full-time studies at Berklee. This year, two large scholarships were awarded to Anna Struijk from Arnhem, Netherlands, and Akiko Iwawaki is from Yokkaichi City, Mie, Japan.
